"Here at last, here at last. . "

The 26 pilgrims from The First United Methodist Church family are working on close to 34 hours of pillow-to-pillow time at the time of this post, and most are beginning to enjoy some much needed rest.  We have arrived Tiberius, by way of Tel Aviv/Newark/Detroit/Naples/Kansas City/Los Angeles and a couple other cities.  We can't yet appreciate the The Galilee as the locals refer to it, having arrived in darkness. .we're out the door at 8 am tomorrow morning for a series of full and rewarding days.  Expect posts from others, as we'll all be moved differently and by different things.

While we are here, our journey wasn't boring!  Who knew snow flurries could bring the Detroit crew of 15 persons to within minutes from missing the connecting flight in Newark.  We landed in Newark at 10:00 pm, in Terminal A. . .needing to take a shuttle bus to Terminal C, and walk nearly a mile to our gate!  Day 1's MVP award is shared by Larry Price, whose ingratiating manner (proving once again honey trumps vinegar) enlisted the sympathy and extra-mile assistance from Sharon, the United      gate supervisor in Detroit.  Sharon prevailed upon her Newark associates to have two 10-person golf carts waiting for us to deal with that otherwise long and sweaty, mile-long dash to the Tel Aviv boarding location.

We're here, a bit tired, but oh so grateful for the helping hand extended by folks like Sharon. . .doing the kinds of good turns this holy land is famous for.  More tomorrow. . .

. . .a reminder to all following this blog, you are a big crew, including every FUMC member who receives Jack's Monday Memo where he included the link to this blog.  We look forward to your thoughts!

John Smith
